Jackson, Mississippi Downtown Spring Engagement | Callie + Parker

It’s always a joy to have a session when I travel back to my hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. In mid May, I had just that kind of weekend, where I was photographing a wedding on Saturday and an engagement session on Sunday.

Callie + Parker met while attending medical school at the University of Mississippi, so I thought it would be fun to shoot near the Mississippi State Capitol for a sophisticated city vibe. It worked well because Parker popped the question while on a trip to Washington D.C. and to me the Mississippi Capitol Building looks very similar to the United States Capitol Building.

We drove around the city, finding fun spots along the way like the Mississippi Museum of Arts and the old Greyhound station.

For a more casual look, they wanted to shoot at Barnett Reservoir (where I grew up!). It was a beautiful day, so we had to work around the couples and families enjoying the park that day. Thankfully we were able to find a few spots where we could get some lovely glowy sunset photos for the couple! I’m looking forward to their fall wedding in November later this year!
