Georgiana & Zach’s May wedding was an extra special one for me to shoot. Georgiana is my second cousin on my mother’s side of the family. Over the years, we’ve taken multiple trips to Natchez and Vicksburg when I’ve come back home to Mississippi. This past winter she lived with my mom in Florida while she completed her OT internship. We’ve played many games of dominoes and ate lots of Fettucini Alfredo together.
I had been looking forward to this day for quite some time! And then there’s Zach…her high school sweetheart. I feel like I’ve known him for almost as long as her. There’s always been a Georgiana & Zach! He’s been there for many of those trips and domino games (also he’s super smart and ALWAYS wins). These two were wed at the Madison Methodist Church, followed by a reception at Bridlewood of Madison.
When I say this day was a miracle, that is an understatement. The week leading up had a 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms. The morning of the wedding it was a 99% chance of thunderstorms starting right when we had scheduled portraits. Guess what…it did not rain until the reception. We kept waiting for the bottom to fall out because it sure felt like it was going to at any moment, but it didn’t. We got all of the portraits taken without a drop! Seriously y’all, this was a miracle!
This may be one of my favorite first looks. I love when a bride says her groom’s name and he can turn around and take her in entirely, dress and all. Sweet Georgiana tried so hard not to cry and mess up her make up, but I’m glad she shed a tear or two during the first look. And Zach (like the gentleman he is) had a tissue ready for her to dab her tears.
Georgiana’s grandfather (aka my Uncle Tootie) celebrated his 87th birthday the same day as the wedding. They specifically chose this date for their wedding for that reason. I thought it was so special that they had a chocolate cake made just for his birthday. So yes, the answer is I had 3 pieces of cake at this wedding in case you’re wondering.
I couldn’t help but get a photo of myself with Georgiana, Zach, my mom and my brother, Walter!
