Stop Using That Selfie!

The Power of Personal Branding

You’ve taken a huge step and invested in yourself and your business by booking a branding session!  Hopefully you’ve answered your branding questionnaire, made Pinterest boards, thought about your goals for your session, and made a list of must have shots! Preparing for your session is the best way to ensure that you get the most out of your time with your photographer. Here’s a few more tips to prep for your branding session!

tips to prep for your branding session to make the most of your portraits with branding photographer Amy Allmand Photography

#1: Book a hair & make up artist for the day of your session.

Feeling like your best self will make your branding session even better. Hiring a professional hair and makeup artist will ensure you look and feel your best. They can help you feel pampered and get into the mindset of having your portraits done. A professional hair and MUA will also keep your branding session stress-free. There’s nothing wrong with doing your own hair and makeup, but a professional will save you time and energy. Read more about why you should hire a hair and makeup artist here!

#2: Work with a wardrobe stylist to help you pick out outfits for the session.

If you have the space in the budget, consider hiring a wardrobe stylist. They can help you choose outfits that flatter you and fit your brand. Wardrobe stylists can be super beneficial and a great way to make the most of your images. Let them know where you’re photographing your session as well as your brand’s colors and mission. They’ll help you pick the best outfits for your portraits!

#3: Prep yourself ahead of time.

Some prep work will take more time. If you need a haircut or color, make sure to see your stylist 1-2 weeks before your session. This will help make sure you look fresh in your portraits! If you’re thinking about a spray tan, make sure to get that at least 5 days prior to your session… it will help you make sure you don’t look like an Oompa Loompa in your photos! Finally, the week of your session, book a manicure. Even if you don’t paint your nails, consider a clear polish. Your hands will be in a lot of your portraits – so having everything look clean and beautiful will make your portraits more beautiful!

I know that the day of your session can feel stressful or overwhelming, but remember you have me – your TN branding photographer!  All I need is for you to show up ready for a fun day – celebrating you and your brand.  You don’t need to come to the session thinking that you need to have poses memorized or you know what every moment is going to be like.  That’s my job!  I will be there with you walking you through it all. These few things will help you prep for your branding session and make sure you make the most of working with me!
