The Power of Personal Branding

On September 2nd, Bart and I celebrated our 10th anniversary.  September 2nd was also in the midst of a very busy fall for me, so we decided that we would celebrate our 10th in a big way with a delayed trip to Charleston, South Carolina in early November after my last fall wedding of 2017.  I had been earlier in May, but it was a photography retreat and I didn’t get to see all the things that I wanted to, so we thought it would be the perfect trip.

We stayed in the historic district at the Belmond Charleston Place, right on King Street.  When we arrived we were hungry, so we went to Hyman’s Seafood and it was SO good.  After our giant lunch, we thought it would be good to take a stroll, so we walked down King Street, did some shopping, and came back to our room to get ready for our nighttime ghost tour.  The hotel was so kind as to leave us champagne and strawberries while we were out!  We changed for a chilly evening and went to meet up with our tour group.  The ghost tour was so fun and we found out about Charleston’s spirited history.  No ghosts were spotted on the tour, but we found one later on during the day (you’ll see when you scroll down).

The next day, we went out for breakfast and walked a bit around the Farmer’s Market.  We came back to change for a very special anniversary session with my dear friend Alex Thornton on Rainbow Row.  We had a blast walking around the Battery while she took her to some of her favorite spots to shoot.  After the session, we went to a great pizza joint, Monza Pizza, which was all Ferrari F-1 Racing themed/perfect for Bart.

The following day was cold and rainy, so we decided on a bus tour of the town, perfect for that day.  The next day, we had a later flight home, so we dropped off our luggage with the valet and went walking and I went shooting.  I loved all the gorgeous flower boxes so I made sure to capture a few.   There’s just something about the East Coast cities like Boston, Savannah, and Charleston that are so old with such amazing histories.  We really enjoyed our time and look forward to another trip and another 10 years together!

Here are a few images from our session with the fabulous Alex Thornton!

Hotel: Belmond Charleston Place
